Chennai, 08 January (H.S.) : Tamil Nadu Governor R N RAVI stated that the concept of democracy has been deeply rooted in the historical and cultural fabric of BHARAT long before modern political structures were established.
Speaking at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) during a conclave titled Indian Republic @ 75, the Governor emphasized that the democratic spirit of the nation is not a borrowed Western concept but an indigenous tradition.
The event was organized to commemorate 75 years of the Indian Republic and featured the inauguration of the VENDHAR Museum - Phase II, which is dedicated to the Constitution of BHARAT.
Governor RAVI noted that ancient Indian texts and local governance systems, such as the village councils, provide ample evidence of a participatory form of decision-making that predates contemporary democratic models.
The administrative authority at the conclave highlighted that the newly inaugurated museum serves as a vital educational resource for the youth to understand the evolution of the Indian Republic. Governor R N RAVI further mentioned that the Constitution of BHARAT acts as the ultimate guide for the nation’s progress while remaining connected to its civilizational values.
He urged students and faculty members to study the historical context of the Republic to appreciate the resilience of the nation’s democratic institutions. The Governor also stated that BHARAT’S identity is inseparable from its democratic practice, which continues to thrive through active civic participation and adherence to constitutional principles.
The programme concluded with a call to preserve these ancient values while moving toward a technologically advanced and inclusive future for all citizens.
