Tamil Nadu government denies viral claims regarding Aavin green milk price hike

Chennai, 07 January (H.S.) : The Tamil Nadu government has officially dismissed social media claims suggesting a significant price hike of Rs 6 per litre for Aavin’s green milk packets.

In a clarification issued on Wednesday, authorities stated that the information circulating online is misinformation and that no such increase has been implemented.

The government reiterated that the price reduction of Rs 3 per litre, which was introduced by Chief Minister MK Stalin shortly after assuming office in 2021, remains in full effect for the benefit of consumers.

According to the official version of authority, Aavin recently introduced a new premium milk variant called “Green Magic Plus.” This specific product is enriched with additional Vitamins A and D, containing 4.5 per cent fat and 9 per cent solids-not-fat (SNF).

While this new nutritional variant is priced differently, the existing and popular Aavin Green Magic standardized milk, which contains 4.5 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent SNF, continues to be available at its original price in all retail outlets.

The administration clarified that the production of the traditional green packets has not been halted, ensuring that affordable options remain accessible to the public.

The government urged citizens not to believe or spread unverified rumors regarding essential commodity prices. This response aims to stabilize public sentiment following the viral reports that caused concern among households across the state.

The dairy cooperative continues to maintain its steady supply chain to meet the daily requirements of millions of residents.
