Nitin Gadkari Approves ₹111 Crore for Bypasses and Underpass in Odisha: Aparajita Sarangi

Bhubaneswar, 07 January (H.S.): Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Wednesday said that three bypass projects and a vehicular underpass worth around ₹111 crore have been approved following her meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.

In a social media post, Sarangi said she met the Union Minister and thanked him for his continued support towards infrastructure development initiatives in her constituency. During the meeting, she placed three key demands related to road safety and traffic management in Khurda and Nayagarh districts.

The MP sought approval for the construction of three bypasses at Begunia, Sunakhela and Pubushahi, citing rising traffic congestion in the region. The proposed bypass projects are estimated to cost around ₹100 crore.

She also requested the four-laning of the Khurda–Nayagarh stretch of National Highway-57, covering a distance of approximately 65 kilometres. Highlighting serious public safety and mobility concerns on the busy corridor, Sarangi said the project is expected to involve an investment of over ₹1,600 crore.

In addition, Sarangi proposed the construction of a vehicular underpass (VUP) near Atri and Baghamari in the Begunia area on NH-57, at an estimated cost of ₹11 crore.

“We had a detailed discussion and I submitted a written request. I am glad to inform that the three bypasses and the vehicular underpass, involving an outlay of around ₹111 crore, have been approved,” Sarangi said.

She added that the four-laning of the Khurda–Nayagarh road will be taken up in accordance with due procedures.
