Mumbai, January 7 (HS): Police on Wednesday arrested Ubed Patel, the accused in the murder of Hidayat Patel, Vice President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, in Mohala village of Akola district. The Akot Police Station team is conducting an in-depth investigation into the case.

According to a police officer investigating the matter, on Tuesday evening, as Congress leader Hidayat Patel was coming out of a mosque, an assailant attacked him with a sharp weapon. Patel sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Akot. He succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning during treatment due to excessive blood loss. Police have arrested the accused, Ubed Patel. Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was the result of personal enmity. Further investigation is underway.
