‘Head will be cut off’: Threat posters spark panic in Hingalganj

North 24 Paragnas, 06 January (H.S.): Threatening posters were found in several locations in the Dulduli area of Hingalganj in North 24 Parganas district on Tuesday. The posters contained serious threats against BJP leader Tarun Mandal.

The posters read, BJP leader Tarun Mandal's head will be cut off. BJP leaders, beware. The posters also stated that if Suvendu Adhikari or other state-level BJP leaders hold a public meeting, there would be serious consequences.

The appearance of the posters sparked speculation and discussions throughout the Hingalganj area. However, BJP leader Tarun Mandal, against whom the threats were made, said he was not at all disturbed by the posters. He alleged that the Trinamool Congress's support base in Hingalganj has eroded, which is why they are resorting to such dirty politics. Tarun Mandal also claimed that the Trinamool Congress is certain to lose in Hingalganj in the 2026 assembly elections, and that this is an attempt to spread fear.

Responding to the incident, local Trinamool leader Tushar Mandal said that the BJP hardly gets two or four votes in the areas where these posters were put up, and that the BJP has no organizational presence there. He said he did not know who put up the posters, but that this incident is a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the Trinamool Congress.

Currently, it is unclear who put up the posters.
