Dhubri (Assam), 6 January (HS): The district administration on Tuesday launched a large-scale eviction drive at Charuakhara area under Bilasipara subdivision of the district, targeting alleged encroachments on government land.

According to official sources, the eviction operation will cover nearly 3,500 bighas of land, where bulldozers have been deployed to remove illegal structures and clear the encroached area. The drive is being carried out amid tight security arrangements to maintain law and order.

Senior administrative and police officials were present on the spot to supervise the operation. The administration stated that the eviction is part of an ongoing initiative to reclaim government land and that the process will continue in phases as per plan.

Further details regarding rehabilitation or future use of the cleared land are awaited.
