Golaghat (Assam), 6 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the state government is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen Nari Shakti by transforming women’s plans into successful enterprises. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to women-led development, he said empowering women economically remains a top priority.

After programmes in Darrang and Sarupathar, the Chief Minister on Tuesday disbursed financial assistance of ₹10,000 each to more than 27,000 women beneficiaries in Bokakhat under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA). The beneficiaries included Aaimatri, Baideo and women from self-help groups engaged in entrepreneurial activities.

Dr Sarma said that with over 15 lakh women already covered under various empowerment initiatives, the state has taken another major step towards realising its vision of creating 40 lakh Lakhpati Baideos across Assam. He added that such initiatives are aimed at providing financial independence and sustainable livelihoods to women at the grassroots level.
