TMC worker assaulted in Bhangar, police probe on


South 24 Paragnas, 06 January (H.S.): Indian Secular Front(ISF) supporters are alleged to have assaulted a Trinamool Congress worker on Monday night In Bhangar, South 24 Parganas district. The incident took place in Chelegoyalia area under North Kashipur police station of Bhangar Block Number Two. Based on a complaint, the police have launched an investigation. The injured Trinamool worker has been identified as Shariful Molla. Allegedly, ISF supporters were verbally abusing Canning East MLA Shaukat Molla. When Shariful Molla protested, he was attacked and severely beaten. Following the incident, Shariful Molla, who was seriously injured, was admitted to the Jirengacha Primary Health Center, where he is currently receiving treatment. Shariful Molla's wife, Nasima Bibi, said that her husband was assaulted for protesting against the derogatory remarks made against MLA Shaukat Molla. She also said that a written complaint would be filed at the police station regarding the incident. Responding to the incident, Canning East MLA Shaukat Molla alleged, “The ISF is behaving like mad dogs in Bhangar and attacking people indiscriminately, which is disturbing the peace in the area. No matter how hard they try, the Trinamool Congress will ultimately win in the Bhangar assembly constituency.” However, the ISF had not issued any statement regarding the incident at the time of filing this report.
