Golaghat (Assam), 6 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg has gained fresh momentum, with the state government set to take key decisions at the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting in Bokakhat of Golaghat district, the Chief Minister informed that a state cabinet meeting will be held on January 9, during which a Special Public Prosecutor will be appointed to closely monitor and pursue the case.

Dr Sarma stated that once the Special Public Prosecutor submits details regarding the required timeline for conducting proceedings in a special court, the government will move an application for the constitution of such a court. He added that the next hearing in the matter is scheduled for January 18.

The Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring a transparent and time-bound legal process and that all necessary steps will be taken to strengthen the investigation and judicial proceedings.-----------
