
Manhattan, USA, 04 January (H.S.): Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, arrested from Venezuela and brought to America, has been lodged at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center—the same facility that previously held high-profile federal case accused like Sean Diddy Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried.
High-Security Transfer
According to a CNN report, the New York Police Department stated that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was transported to Manhattan by helicopter. From there, Maduro was escorted to Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center in a convoy of Justice Department (law enforcement) vehicles.
Maduro is scheduled to face drugs and weapons charges next week in a Manhattan federal court. Federal officers from the Justice Department stand guard outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Nationwide Protests Ignite
Meanwhile, in opposition to Maduro's arrest, people demonstrated in major cities like Washington DC, New York, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles. People raised their voices against the military attack by braving biting cold and rain. Some people also chanted slogans in support of Maduro's arrest. Participants in the protest demonstrations accused that President Donald Trump got Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores kidnapped after conducting a military campaign in Venezuela.
In a Los Angeles protest demonstration, Socialism and Liberation Party leader Cameron Hart said America is hungry only for dollars. It does not see real humans. That is why it carries out bombing at midnight. Earlier, America’s military attack shook Venezuela. Loud explosions occurred in Venezuela's capital Caracas from American army airstrikes. After that, American security forces entered Venezuela's Presidential House. They captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and brought them to America. Both were kept at New York’s (military base) military base. Here, Cilia Flores underwent a medical check-up. After that, Maduro was transported to Manhattan under tight security.
NYC Mayor Slams Trump
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani criticized Trump: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani targeted President Donald Trump for arresting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. He called Maduro's arrest a violation of federal and international law. The Venezuelan government said in a statement that this attack was carried out to seize the country's oil and mineral reserves.
