04 Jan (HS): A 50-year-old man died here after reportedly having an epileptic
seizure and falling into a bon fire he was warming himself by, according to
police on Sunday. On
Saturday night, the event occurred in Bhakora village, which is part of the
Chauri police station jurisdiction. According to Station House Officer (SHO)
Ram Sarikh Gautam, Basawan alias Kallu (50), who had epilepsy, was warming
himself by a bonfire outside his house at 10 p.m. when he had a seizure and fell
into the flames. The SHO stated that Jaydei, his wife, was working inside the
residence. Around a half-hour later, locals recognized the stench of burning
flesh and rushed to investigate.
They
discovered Basawan lying face down in the blaze, with half of his body severely
burned. Gautam claimed he was already dead. According to police, after
obtaining information about the occurrence, the corpse was checked and handed
over to the family. Basawan's final rites were held subsequently.
