U.S. Commandos Drag Maduro and Wife from Slumber in Lightning Raid

BEIJING, 04 January (H.S.): China expressed profound shock and vehement condemnation on Saturday over United States military strikes targeting Venezuela, which culminated in the capture and extraction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores to New York custody.

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson branded the actions blatant use of force against a sovereign state, asserting they gravely infringe international law, Venezuelan sovereignty, and imperil Latin American-Caribbean stability.

President Donald Trump boasted on Truth Social of the successful large-scale operation, vowing interim US administration pending transition while hinting at potential escalation.

Beijing, a steadfast Caracas ally via oil imports and Belt and Road partnerships, urged Washington to honor UN Charter tenets, halt sovereignty violations, and immediately liberate Maduro—echoing sentiments post a high-level Sino-Venezuelan meeting hours prior.

Allies Russia, Iran, and Cuba mirrored outrage, decrying armed aggression, while Latin nations sought UN-OAS emergency sessions.
