Auto Federation Protests Over ‘Ama Bus’ Accident

Bhubaneswar, 04 January (H.S.): Tension prevailed in the state capital on Sunday following protests by the Online Smart City Auto Federation over a fatal road accident involving an ‘Ama Bus’ at Rupali Chhak in Bhubaneswar.

It may be noted that, an ‘Ama Bus’ operating on Route No. 32 collided with an auto-rickshaw on Saturday, resulting in the death of an auto driver. Condemning the incident, members of the auto federation staged a protest demonstration in front of the CRUT’s Gadakan bus depot on Saturday.

The protesters alleged that the absence of clear and separate regulations governing the operation of ‘Ama Bus’ services has led to such accidents. They demanded that the government immediately introduce specific rules for ‘Ama Bus’ operations and ensure proper training for bus drivers to prevent further mishaps.

The federation also demanded compensation of ₹10 lakh for the family of the deceased auto driver. They warned that if their demands are not met, protests would be intensified in the coming days, with demonstrations planned at major intersections across the capital city.
