Chennai, 03 January (H.S.) : The twenty second edition of the prestigious Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival is scheduled to take place from January eight to eleven across various public spaces in the historic neighborhood of Mylapore.

The four day cultural extravaganza will showcase a diverse range of events, including classical music and dance performances, heritage walks, and traditional craft displays. Most of the events are open to the general public, aiming to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region through street theatre and artistic expressions.

More than one hundred fifty artistes, including talented school students and performers traveling from Tiruchy and Tirupur, are set to participate in the festivities. Morning kutcheris will be held daily at the iconic Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, providing a serene musical experience for devotees and visitors.

For children, the festival organizers have planned chess tournaments and specialized art and craft workshops at the Lady Sivasamy Ayyar School on January ten and eleven. Additionally, the schedule includes eight distinct heritage walks and a cycling heritage tour specifically designed for young participants.

A significant highlight of this year's festival is the environmental focus, as Sundaram Finance partners with the Environmental Foundation of India to launch the Grow Your Food home kitchen garden initiative. Participants will be enrolled in a BlueGreen Club to receive mentorship on sustainable living.

Authorities also noted that the festival marks the fifteenth year of its dedicated plastic reduction drive. As part of this campaign, approximately ten thousand cloth bags will be distributed in exchange for plastic bags to promote the Keep Mylapore Clean awareness movement.
