03 Jan (HS): The grand and divine Magh Mela was inaugurated in Prayagraj, the

Sangam city of Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning with lakhs of devotees taking

a dip in the Triveni-Sangam. Till 12 noon today on Paush Purnima, 15 lakh

devotees have taken a dip in Prayagraj. Today is the first main bath - of Paush

Purnima. The entire fair is giving the message of grandeur and divinity. During this, lakhs of devotees from India and

abroad will earn virtue by taking a dip in the Sangam. This Magh Mela of

Prayagraj is considered very important from the religious point of view in

Sanatan Dharma. On this occasion, devotees get eternal virtue by taking a bath

in the Sangam. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has wished the

Kalpvasis and devotees on the inauguration of the Magh Mela.

The

administration estimates that more than 3 million devotees will take a holy dip

here today on Paush Purnima. Millions of devotees had already arrived at the

Sangam banks last night. This morning, the crowds caused traffic jams at many

places in the fair area. However, in view of the Purnima bath, security

arrangements have been tightened, and the pontoon bridges in seven sectors of

the entire fair area have been made one-way.

A

grand tent city has been set up: This time the state government is trying to

make the fair even more grand and divine than in previous years. This is why

more arrangements and facilities are being made this time. If we talk about the

tent city, this time a grand tent city has been set up in an area of ​​800

hectares for the Magh Mela, whereas the last Magh Mela was in 768 hectares. The

administration has made preparations in such a way that this time around 15

crore devotees will reach the Magh Mela, whereas in 2024 the number of devotees

was only around 6 crore. It is noteworthy that the Magh Mela was not organised

in the year 2025 due to Maha Kumbh.

River

ambulance facility for the first time: The most significant feature for

pilgrims is that two river ambulances have been arranged for the Magh Mela,

while 80 ambulances have been deployed. Additionally, hospitals are providing

their own medical facilities and services. The Health Department has completed

the deployment of skilled doctors and paramedical staff in a timely manner.

buses will run from the bus stand: 2250 buses will be run for the fair from

Jhunsi bus stand of Prayagraj. Uttar Pradesh Roadways is operating 3800 buses

for the entire fair. Out of these, 2250 buses have been sent from Jhunsi. Apart

from this, shuttle bus facility is also being provided for different parts of

various districts like Meerut, Bareilly, Kanpur, Sitapur. Similarly, Indian

Railways has also given additional stoppage to many trains on different dates

at Prayagraj Junction as well as Rambagh and Jhunsi stations during Magh Mela.

These include many long distance trains.

QR

codes installed: Magh Mela in-charge Neeraj Pandey said that QR codes have been

installed on 15,500 electric poles in the fair area. On scanning these, an

online form will open on the mobile phones of the devotees. In this form,

devotees can register their complaint or get necessary information by filling

their name, mobile number and security code. He said that by scanning the QR

code, devotees will be able to share their exact location with the

administration and get immediate help. The name of the respective road and

sector and Google code (G-code) are inscribed on each pole, due to which

devotees will remain informed about their location at all times.
