03 Jan (HS): Two males have been detained in connection with the murder of a
five-year-old child, authorities said on Saturday. Raju, a native of Balrampur
district, and Veeru Kashyap, of Lakhimpur Kheri district, were apprehended in
an encounter near Sikandrabad police station. They were found in possession of
illegal firearms and cartridges.

Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural), stated that late on Friday evening,
police got information that a female was critically hurt in a village under the
jurisdiction of Sikandrabad Police Station. After obtaining the information,
the police and the girl's relatives sent her to the community health center for
treatment, where physicians confirmed her dead. A case was opened following a
complaint submitted by the girl's father.
In
his complaint, the father claimed that the two young men who lived on rent in
the same building as him and his family were responsible for the murder. The
father reportedly voiced concern that the men had raped the girl. Three squads
were established to apprehend the suspects. Following this, it was learned that
the accused were hiding in an under-construction site on Kanwara Road. Based on
this information, the police encircled the accused, resulting in an incident. Raju
and Veeru were shot in the legs during the confrontation and detained as a
result. According to authorities, after preliminary interrogation, the suspects
admitted to their role in the event. Singh stated that further investigation is
underway to identify the motivation for the murder.
