
Mumbai, 03 Jan (HS): Former National
President of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and BJP’s former legislator Dr
Ashok Modak passed away on Friday night at Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai. A
former professor in Political Science in Mumbai University, Dr Modak was
suffering from cancer.
Born in 1940 he worked as teacher in
Mumbai University from 1963 to 1994. He was Professor Emeritus for five years
from 2015. He authored 104 research papers and more than 40 books. He delivered
lectures at national and international levels, and was honoured with Life Time
Achievement Award by the Chaturang Trust.
Dr Modak was appointed the Chancellor of
Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. He was a member of
Maharashtra Legislative Council from the Teachers’ Constituency.

Devendra Fadnavis condoled the death of Dr Ashok Modak. Fadnavis recalled his
contribution in the field of education.
