Mirzapur,
03 Jan (HS): On the occasion of Paush Purnima, a remarkable display of faith
and devotion was witnessed at the Badi Shitala Mata Temple in Adalpura on
Saturday. Despite the bitter cold, a large number of devotees arrived at the
temple complex to worship and pay their respects to Mother Shitala. The crowd
swelled in the afternoon, as devotees bowed their heads at the Mother's shrine
and prayed for happiness and prosperity.
After
bathing in the Ganges, devotees purchased offerings such as coconuts, chunri,
garlands, flowers, pedas, gram flour laddus, etc. from the shops selling prasad
in the temple premises. Standing in long queues, they chanted the praises of
Mother Shitala and reached the sanctum sanctorum, offered her offerings and
received her blessings. The priests present in the temple performed the darshan
and puja rituals for the devotees.
In
view of the festival, strict security arrangements were made in and around the
temple complex. Circle Officer Manjari Rao, Police Inspector Vijay Shankar
Singh, and Adalpura Police Post in-charge Sub-Inspector Kumar Santosh, along
with the police force, remained constantly deployed to maintain security,
ensuring no inconvenience to devotees.
