Kolkata, 03 January (H.S.): The West Bengal BJP has levelled serious allegations against the Mamata Banerjee government regarding an alleged ₹100 crore scam involving flood relief funds in Malda district. In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, the BJP said that a new report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has exposed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's betrayal of Bengali taxpayers.

According to the BJP, massive irregularities have been found in the funds received from the central government for flood relief in Malda. Allegedly, central government funds were siphoned off by showing non-existent permanent houses in the records. The report claims that the allocated amount was disbursed to some accounts as many as 42 times.

The BJP also alleged that 108 public representatives and state government employees were involved in this organized scam. In many cases, relief funds were given to people who had not even applied for them. A total of 6,965 cases of repeated payments have been reported.

The post stated that this scam is not only a betrayal of the poor for whom the flood relief funds were intended, but also a betrayal of the honest and hardworking taxpayers of West Bengal. The BJP alleged that the funds sent by the central government, which come from the taxes paid by Bengali taxpayers, are being looted by leaders associated with the Trinamool Congress and corrupt state government officials.

As of the time of filing this news, there has been no response from the Trinamool Congress regarding these allegations.
