Golaghat (Assam), 3 January (HS):

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit Bokakhat in Golaghat district on January 6 to distribute cheques under the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Scheme, marking a significant step by the state government towards economic empowerment of women in the new year.

According to the CM office, as part of the programme, a large public meeting will be held at the Bokakhat Public Playground, where beneficiaries from the region are expected to participate in large numbers. The cheque distribution aims to support women entrepreneurs and encourage self-employment across the state.

Preparations for the event are in full swing, with the district administration expediting arrangements. A grand stage is being set up at the venue, while security measures, traffic management and other logistical arrangements are being finalised to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.

Assam Cabinet Minister and local MLA of Bokakhat, Atul Bora, is personally overseeing the preparations for the event. He, along with party workers and officials, is closely monitoring arrangements to ensure the programme is conducted successfully and without any disruptions.

During his visit, the Chief Minister is also expected to inaugurate several new development projects and newly constructed housing units in the Bokakhat area, which is anticipated to give a fresh boost to infrastructure and social development in the region.

Notably, ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, Minister Atul Bora has been actively engaging with the public through development initiatives and government schemes, a move seen as politically significant in the region.----------
