Chennai, 03 January (H.S.) : The internal rift within the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee has resurfaced following serious allegations made by Karur MP S Jothimani.

The parliamentarian claimed that she was recently prevented from submitting the booth agents list to the Election Commission of India ahead of the crucial State Assembly elections.

In a strongly worded social media post on Friday, Jothimani expressed her concern that the party is increasingly making headlines for internal disputes rather than addressing the pressing issues of the common people.

Jothimani alleged that the party is currently engaging in political calculations for the benefit of a few individuals instead of advancing ideological politics. She warned that this trend is pushing the Tamil Nadu Congress toward a gradual decline.

Drawing a sharp contrast with the national leadership, she stated that the current trajectory of the state unit is completely opposite to the selfless and fearless politics practiced by Rahul Gandhi. She urged the state leadership to uphold the legacy of K Kamaraj and the sacrifices of the Nehru-Gandhi family to maintain the party's identity in the state.

Responding to these allegations, TNCC President K Selvaperunthagai acknowledged that there are organizational issues and internal feuds within the Karur district unit.

He stated that as the state president, he has already recommended disciplinary action against the concerned district president and the matter is now being reviewed by the All India Congress Committee.

Adding to the party's woes, TNCC member AP Surya Prakasam resigned from the party on the same day, alleging that the state leadership is functioning in a manner subservient to the ruling DMK, which he believes is weakening the party's future prospects.
