Kyiv, Ukraine, 19 January (H.S.): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a video address posted to X today on Monday, emphasized that Russia's ongoing military actions contradict claims of seeking peace, urging sustained international pressure to address the conflict's origins.

Focus Shifts from Diplomacy to Escalatory Strikes

Zelenskyy articulated that genuine Russian intent to end hostilities would prioritize diplomatic engagement over missile barrages, energy blackouts, and reconnaissance of nuclear power plant sites, which Ukrainian intelligence has identified as preparation for potential attacks. These developments, he noted, clearly indicate that negotiations remain subordinate to operational priorities.

Call for Global Acknowledgment and Resolve

The president stressed the necessity of recognizing Moscow's role as the conflict's instigator, advocating continued measures against the aggressor to compel a shift toward substantive dialogue. This statement coincides with recent Russian strikes exacerbating Ukraine's energy crisis during winter, heightening risks to critical infrastructure.
