
New Delhi, 19 January (H.S.): Global markets signaled weakness on Monday, January 19, with US indices closing lower in the prior session. Dow Jones futures traded down, European bourses ended in red, and Asian markets showed a mixed bag.US markets faced sustained pressure last session, leaving Wall Street benchmarks flat. The S&P 500 closed 0.06% weaker at 6,940.01. Nasdaq ended marginally down 0.88 points at 23,529.14.
Dow Jones futures now trade 314.39 points (0.64%) lower at 49,044.94.European selling persisted through the previous session. FTSE closed 0.04% off at 10,235.29. CAC 40 shed 0.66% to end at 8,258.94, while DAX slipped 0.22% to 25,297.13.
Asian markets traded mixed today. Of nine regional indices, five hovered red on declines, four green on gains.Kospi rose 0.97% to 4,887.90. Taiwan Weighted climbed 0.25% to 31,488.77. Shanghai Composite gained 0.13% at 4,107.18, and Jakarta Composite edged up 0.09% to 9,083.51.
Conversely, Gift Nifty fell 147.50 points (0.57%) to 25,596. Straits Times dropped 0.43% to 4,828.08. Hang Seng plunged 262.96 points (0.98%) to 26,582. Nikkei tumbled 485.17 points (0.90%) to 53,451. SET Composite traded 0.19% lower at 1,273.15.
