Woman poisoned son daughter suicide

Saharanpur,

16 Jan (HS): Following a domestic dispute in the district's Gaglaherhi area, a

30-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her son and daughter before committing

suicide by consuming the toxic substance, police said on Friday. In their

complaint, the deceased woman's relatives accused her in-laws of harassment,

which prompted police to file a case and begin an investigation, they claimed. Superintendent

of Police (City) Vyom Bindal stated that Manita, 30, a resident of Mohaddipur,

married Neetu, a resident of the Gaglaherhi neighborhood, nine years ago. The

event occurred on late Thursday night, when Manita, following an argument with

her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, left the house with her daughter Nitya,

6, and son Kartikeya, 4, according to the SP.

According

to the officer, she then called her husband, who works in the private sector,

and informed him that she intended to commit suicide by consuming poison with

her children. Meanwhile,

onlookers noticed the mom and her children in distress and called the police.

Bindal stated that Gaglaherhi police promptly transported all three to the

hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The bodies of the dead have been

submitted for a postmortem investigation. The deceased woman's family has filed

a complaint at the police station, accusing her brother-in-law and

sister-in-law of causing the deaths of their daughter and grandkids, police

said. They also claimed that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law tormented

their daughter, and that their son-in-law supported his family, police said. Bindal

stated that the police are investigating the case based on the complaint, and

that additional action would be taken following the post-mortem results.
