Chennai, 16 January (H.S.) : The Southern Railway has announced the inaugural service of Train Number 06224, the Radhikapur to SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express. This new express train is scheduled to be flagged off from the Radhikapur railway station in West Bengal at 01.45 PM on January 17, 2026.

According to the official statement, the train will commence its journey on Saturday and is expected to arrive at its destination, SMVT Bengaluru, at 03.05 PM on the third day of its travel. This service aims to enhance connectivity between West Bengal and Karnataka, passing through several key stations along the route.

The train is scheduled to make several important stops including Perambur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, and Jolarpettai. The comprehensive coach composition of the Amrit Bharat Express features two AC Two-Tier coaches, six AC Three-Tier coaches, and eight Sleeper Class coaches.

Additionally, the train will be equipped with four General Second Class coaches, two Second Class coaches specifically designed to be disabled-friendly, and one luggage-cum-brake van to accommodate various passenger needs.

The version of authority provided by the Southern Railway indicates that while the inaugural run is set for this weekend, the regular services and detailed schedules for all related trains will be notified separately in the near future.

This launch marks a significant step in the expansion of the Amrit Bharat series of trains, which are designed to provide efficient and comfortable long-distance travel options for passengers across the national railway network.
