Chennai, 16 January (H.S.) : Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday defended the demand of the party for a share in power in Tamil Nadu. He stated that every political party naturally aspires to have a significant role in governance to serve the public better.
Upon receiving a warm welcome from party workers at the Chennai airport, the former Union Minister for IT and Telecom addressed the media regarding the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for March and April this year. He emphasized that there is nothing incorrect about Congress cadres seeking representation in the state government.
Sachin Pilot remarked that the Congress remains a very strong entity with a substantial vote share in the region. He also praised the performance of the DMK government, noting that it has earned public approval through its effective work.
However, he was firm in his stance that the BJP and the NDA would never manage to find a foothold in the politics of Tamil Nadu, regardless of their repeated attempts to build a narrative. The senior leader reiterated that the alliance remains united in its mission to defeat these opposing forces in the future.
The version of authority was clarified by Minister I Periyasamy, who ruled out the possibility of a coalition government. He mentioned that Chief Minister M K Stalin is firm on the decision of not sharing power with alliance partners.
This follows recent statements from Congress leaders like Manickam Tagore and S Rajeshkumar, who had advocated for a debate on a coalition setup.
Despite these differing views within the alliance, Pilot expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to work in the best interests of the people.
