BVA takes decisive lead in Vasai-Virar, BJP set to wrest Mumbai

Nagpur, 16 Jain (HS): Bahujan Vikas Aghadi has taken a

decisive lead in Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation relegating Bharatiya Janata

Party to second position. The results has surprised even political giants and

analysts. Out of the total of 115 seats BVA has won 60 and is leading in six

others.

In Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a decisive

lead with Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) despite tough contest by Uddhav Thackeray’s

Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena alliance. Mumbai Municipal Corporation

has been held by Shiv Sena for decades. BJP has wrested the municipal

corporation from them.

BJP contest in alliance with Shiv Sena (Sinde), but

has a strong majority, proving the confidence of Chief Minister Devendra

Fadnavis that next mayor of Mumbai will be of BJP.

BJP is leading in most of the municipal corporations

in Maharashtra, with neck and neck contest with Congress in Chandrapur. Congresss

had a minor lead in Amravati and Chandrapur.

Besides Mumbai, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad were other

regions of interest. The region had major influence of Nationalist Congress

Party before the party broking into two groups. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit

Pawar had put his entire energy in Pune. However, BJP has gained strong lead in

Pune destroying the dream of Ajit Pawar. Sharad Pawar’s group of NCP had had

extended unconditional supported to Ajit Pawar in Pune.

In Nagpur BJP has made a clean sweep taking lead in

102 out of 151 seats.

Although the final results have not been announced the

trend clearly indicates the BJP is way ahead compared to the nearest rivals.
