
Guwahati, 15 January (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated a 70 MW solar power project at Khudigaon in Bilasipara area of Dhubri district, marking a major step towards strengthening Assam’s clean energy capacity.
The project has been set up on 1,000 bighas of encroachment-free land at a cost of over ₹350 crore and will generate around 141 million units of electricity annually, reducing nearly 1.15 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions. With its commissioning, Assam’s total solar power generation capacity has increased to 680 MW.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the State is steadily moving towards its target of 2,000 MW of renewable energy. He informed that APDCL has signed a power purchase agreement with SJVN Green Energy Limited at a tariff of ₹3.92 per unit. He also said another 50 MW solar power project at Borsola in Sonitpur district is under construction and is expected to be inaugurated by April.--------
