New Delhi, 13 January (H.S.): Congress raised pointed questions on Tuesday regarding the meeting between BJP leaders and a Chinese Communist Party (CPC) delegation at the BJP headquarters, alongside China's renewed claims over the Shaksgam Valley in Jammu and Kashmir.
National spokesperson Pawan Khera addressed a press conference at the party headquarters, noting, BJP hosted CPC leaders at its headquarters. This raises serious questions about whether discussions touched on issues where China has undermined India's interests.
Khera interrogated if topics like Galwan, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, China's Shaksgam Valley assertions, and Sino-Pak cooperation during Operation Sindoor—as reported by military officials—featured in the talks. He highlighted China's supply of HQ-9 air defense systems and PL-15 missiles to Pakistan, used against India in Operation Sindoor, yet accused the government of resuming Mansarovar Yatra on China's terms.
Khera charged the Modi government's foreign policy with inconsistency: China alters India's maps, prompting app bans; fertilizer and rare earth metal restrictions harm the nation; 20 soldiers fell at Galwan, yet no repercussions follow. He alleged silence over Chinese military bridges via Pangong Lake and Brahmaputra River dams.
Notably, Monday's meeting at BJP headquarters in New Delhi saw CPC delegation led by Sun Heyan, Deputy Minister of CPC's International Department, engage with BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh's team. BJP's foreign affairs in-charge Vijay Chauthaiwale posted on X that discussions focused on enhancing inter-party communication.
