Chennai, 10 January (H.S.) : Three youths were arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing mobile phones from the Madukkarai court storeroom during an incident that occurred last August.
The arrested individuals have been identified as M Abishek, aged twenty, M Solomon Akash, aged twenty nine, and K Kishore, aged eighteen. All three suspects are residents of the Vellalore Housing Unit at Podanur.
According to the police, the trio broke into the court premises in August with the initial intention of finding ganja that had been seized from them previously. While searching the storeroom, they stole two mobile phones instead.
The Madukkarai police registered a formal case following a complaint lodged by the court staff. During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused individuals have multiple pending cases against them at both the Podanur and Chettipalayam police stations. After their arrest, the youths were produced before the court and subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
Local authorities emphasized that the security of court storage facilities is being reviewed to prevent such breaches in the future. The recovery of the stolen devices was part of the police operation that led to the successful apprehension of the suspects after several months of investigation into the break-in.
