Chennai, 10 January (H.S.) : Speculations regarding a potential alliance between the Pattali Makkal Katchi, or PMK, and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, known as the DMK, have intensified following recent remarks by Dr Ramadoss. The PMK founder publicly stated that Chief Minister M K Stalin has provided excellent governance in Tamil Nadu over the past four and a half years.
This praise comes at a critical juncture as the state prepares for the general Assembly elections scheduled for April. The statement has created a stir in political circles, especially since alliance negotiations are currently underway across various parties. Dr Ramadoss also asserted his sole authority as party founder to conduct these negotiations, amid reports of internal differences with his son Anbumani Ramadoss regarding the party's direction.
While the DMK alliance already includes more than ten parties, the potential entry of the PMK faces a significant hurdle due to the presence of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, or VCK. VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan has consistently maintained that his party will not remain in any alliance that includes the PMK.
When questioned by reporters about the possibility of traveling in the same alliance as the VCK, Dr Ramadoss provided a cryptic response, stating that anything can happen in politics. Previously, there were rumors of the PMK holding talks with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, or TVK, which Dr Ramadoss has since denied.
As the election season approaches, these shifting political dynamics suggest a highly fluid environment for strategic partnerships in Tamil Nadu.
