Mathura,

10 Jan (HS): Animal skins and other remnants were discovered in a 30-foot-deep

trench amid scrap warehouses in the colony here, authorities said on Saturday. Residents

were outraged by the recovery, and they set fire to three warehouses that were

purportedly used as slaughterhouses. According to sources, police eventually

got the fire under control with the help of two fire tenders. Three persons,

including a woman, were seized on the scene, and their interrogation is

ongoing, they said. Police claimed another guy, Ilyas, was apprehended after

being discovered escaping on a motorbike with the meat. At the Highway police

station, Ilyas and six others - Haji Islam, Nadeem, Shahrukh, Bilal, Karman,

and Gulla - were charged with violating different provisions of the Uttar

Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and the Municipal Corporation Act.

Police said samples of the confiscated meat and animal parts were submitted

to Uttar Pradesh's Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary University for testing. Superintendent

of Police (City) Rajiv Kumar Singh stated that the incident came to light on

Friday when some youngsters playing in the neighborhood went near the

warehouses to hunt for their cricket ball and smelled a bad odour. They

contacted their relatives, who subsequently alerted the leaders of Hindu

groups. Angry people encircled the location, and one of them set fire to the

warehouses, according to the police. He said that people witnessed Ilyas

rushing out of one of the warehouses on a motorbike and attempting to flee.

When he checked the sack he was carrying, there was animal flesh within.

Police suspect the accused of conducting an unlawful slaughterhouse. Neeraj

Sharma's complaint led to the registration of the case. Satyawati Chaudhary of

Durga Vahini said that animals were being unlawfully butchered in residences

and warehouses along the Delhi border under the pretense of scrap trade. She

requested that the police take stringent measures against such individuals.
