Chennai, 10 January (H.S.) : Chief Minister M K Stalin today participated in a vibrant Pongal celebration held in Chennai, where he distributed essential kitchen appliances to the attendees.

During the event, the Chief Minister announced the statewide celebration of Thirukkural Week throughout January, a move aimed at promoting Tamil language, literature, and culture.

This initiative follows an announcement made during the silver jubilee of the Statue of Wisdom at the Kanyakumari pier. Stalin shared the update on the social media platform X, highlighting that the festivities will include various activities such as Kural painting, recitation competitions, and music performances across all thirty eight districts of Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Minister expressed great pride in inaugurating the events under the banner of Thirukkural Thiruvizha, describing it as a grand festival that honors the values of the legendary poet Valluvar. In addition to these cultural initiatives, Stalin recently inaugurated the forty ninth edition of the Chennai Book Fair at the YMCA Grounds in Nandanam.

He emphasized the importance of building a knowledge-based society and noted that outstanding writers are being honored through the Kalaignar Porkizhi award.

This award, which provides one lakh rupees to eminent authors, is funded by a generous donation from former Chief Minister Kalaignar.

The state government remains dedicated to ensuring that the Tamil community is recognized globally for its intellectual and cultural contributions.
