Guwahati, 10 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday launched the distribution of ₹10,000 MMUA cheques to 31,190 enterprising women of the Hajo–Sualkuchi Assembly Constituency at a programme held in Kamrup district. With this, a total of 17.95 lakh women across 74 Assembly constituencies have benefited so far under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan.

Addressing a public meeting at Sualkuchi, the Chief Minister said the scheme aims to cover 32 lakh women with a total outlay of ₹3,200 crore and described it as a symbol of the government’s commitment to women empowerment. He said over one lakh women in Assam have already become “Lakhpati Baideu” through the scheme.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the impact of women-centric schemes like Orunodoi and Nijut Moina and said the government will continue support, training and financial assistance until women beneficiaries achieve sustainable livelihoods.-------
