Mirzapur, 10 Jan (HS): The administration has taken a major
initiative to protect stray cattle in the district. Now, a dozen cattle
shelters in the district will be monitored from the district headquarters. For
this, CCTV cameras have been installed at all selected shelters, so that
activities there can be monitored 24 hours a day. The Animal Husbandry
Department has started the process of setting up a control room in the Vikas
Bhawan complex. Through the control room, the maintenance of cattle in the
shelters, the arrangement of fodder and water, and cleanliness will be
regularly monitored. This will also enable monitoring of the functioning of the
caretakers and immediate action will be possible in case of any negligence.
It was reported that the plan to install CCTV cameras had been pending for a
long time due to a lack of funds. Recently, after the government approved a sum
of 50,000 rupees for each camera, the work was completed expeditiously.
Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Bhupendra Pathak stated that all cameras will be
connected as soon as the control room becomes operational. This will not only
ensure the safety of cattle, but also identify sick animals and provide timely
treatment. Veterinarians in the area will be immediately notified and sent to
the scene. This initiative is expected to further strengthen the cattle
protection system.
