Nagaon (Assam), 10 January (HS): Police have arrested two alleged cattle smugglers with 30 cattle from the Samaguri area of Nagaon district.

According to police, the arrests were made during an operation conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs in the Sonaribali area under Samaguri. The accused have been identified as Ajit Dutta and Farmuj Ali.

Police recovered 30 cattle from the possession of the arrested accused. A case has been registered in this connection and further investigation is underway.

Despite the enforcement of stringent cattle protection laws in the state, incidents of cattle smuggling continue to be reported.------------
