Guwahati, 08 September (HS): Acting on a tip-off, Dispur Police in Guwahati arrested a drug trafficker from Manipur and seized a large quantity of heroin from his possession.

Police sources said on Monday that an EGP team of Dispur Police intercepted a Maruti Alto (AS-01GG-9865) near Saibaba Temple at Radha Nagar under Dispur Police Station limits. On searching the vehicle, 355 grams of heroin packed in 30 soap cases were recovered, cleverly concealed inside the car.

The arrested trafficker has been identified as Rajesh Yumnam, a resident of Bishnupur district in Manipur. In addition to the drugs, police also seized his PAN card, ATM card, and driving license.

The seized consignment is valued at over ₹1 crore in the market. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, and further interrogation of the accused is underway. --------
