Jammu, 8 September (H.S.): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for sanctioning 50 MBBS seats for the newly established Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) at Kakryal.

He said the move fulfills the resolve of the Shrine Board to provide world-class medical education in Jammu and Kashmir and will also help increase skilled medical professionals in underserved areas.

The LG added that the Shrine Board had already approved the establishment of a 50-seat medical college in its 71st meeting last year, with a long-term plan to upgrade it to 100 seats, and this sanction marks a significant stride in improving healthcare access and building a stronger system in the Union Territory.
