Bangalore, 08 September (H.S.) : Karnataka Chitradurga Congress MLA Veerendra Pappi, who was arrested by ED officials in an illegal online betting case, has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Special Court of People's Representatives in Bengaluru.
The ED authorities had arrested Veerendra Pappi in Sikkim on the grounds that he played a key role in the investment and money laundering case worth thousands of crores of rupees. Later, during his detention and intensive interrogation, many important information came to light.
Based on this, ED officials have conducted raids at various places in the state and seized documents related to illegal investments and transactions. At the initial stage of the investigation, it is suspected that illegal transactions worth about Rs 7,000 crore have taken place.
The ED raided Virendra's residence from 5 am on August 22. During the raid, documents were examined till midnight, and illegal assets and cash worth crores of rupees and luxury vehicles were seized.
