Bhubaneswar, 8 September (H.S.): To manage the heavy festive season rush, Indian Railways has announced the introduction of weekly special trains between Visakhapatnam and Shalimar.

As per the notification issued by East Coast Railway (ECoR), the special service will operate from Visakhapatnam every Tuesday at 11:20 AM until October 21, 2025, and from Shalimar every Wednesday at 5:00 AM until October 22, 2025.

The train will halt at major stations including Simhachalam, Vizianagaram, Brahmapur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Kharagpur. To meet varying passenger requirements, the rake composition will include AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches.

Railway officials said the special trains are aimed at providing additional travel options and reducing congestion on regular services during the festive period. The move is expected to offer passengers a smoother and more convenient travel experience to their destinations.
