08 Sept (HS): A 19-year-old youth was detained on Monday for allegedly

murdering his father with a brick during a property dispute and sleeping close

to his body all night, police said. According to the police, the event occurred

Saturday night in Sarfabad village as the victim, Gautam (43), was sleeping on

a cot in his room. His son, Uday,

reportedly struck his skull with a stone many times, killing him. According to

a police officer, the accused stated that he slept in the same room as his

father's body the night following the assault.

Police

added that, in addition to the property issue, Uday admitted to murdering his

father because his father refused to provide him money for liquor and everyday expenses.

The

case came to light after the victim's brother filed a lawsuit on Sunday,

claiming that Gautam was murdered by his son.

According to police, Uday was detained and a complaint was filed at

Sector 113 Police Station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

(BNS). Police claimed they had found the brick used in the crime, as well as

the clothes worn by the accused at the time.
