New Delhi, September 8(HS): The Special Staff of Delhi’s South-East District Police has busted a child trafficking and kidnapping racket, arresting 10 members of the gang involved in abducting children from bus terminals and railway stations and selling them for money. In a swift operation, police rescued a six-month-old baby abducted from Sarai Kale Khan ISBT within just 48 hours, tracing the infant to Agra. Five more children were also freed from different locations.
At a press briefing held at Delhi Police headquarters, DCP Dr. Hemant Tiwari identified the accused as Veerbhan (30), the gang’s mastermind from Pinahat, Agra; his father-in-law Kalicharan (45), also involved in the abduction; Dr. Kamlesh Kumar (33), owner of K.K. Hospital, Agra; Sundar Singh (35), a repeat offender; Krishna Sharma (28), and Priti Sharma (30), both from Agra; Ritu Tripathi (40), previously linked to trafficking; Jyotsna (39) from Lucknow; Rachita alias Rubina Agarwal (42) from Agra; and Nikhil Kumar (22) from Firozabad.
According to police, the case originated on August 22, 2025, when Suresh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, discovered that his six-month-old son had gone missing while his family slept at Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. A case was registered at Sunlight Colony police station, and alarming evidence of organized child sales and trafficking soon surfaced. The Special Staff was tasked with taking over the investigation, led by Additional DCP Aishwarya Sharma along with Inspector Rajendra Singh Dagar and a dedicated police team.
Analysis of CCTV footage and technical surveillance led investigators to Veerbhan, who was arrested from Pinahat. During questioning, shocking revelations emerged. Veerbhan admitted he and his father-in-law kidnapped the infant and sold him through Dr. Kamlesh Kumar, who in turn handed the child over to Sundar Singh. Acting on Kamlesh’s confession, police apprehended Sundar near the Rajasthan border, which led them to Krishna and Priti Sharma in Agra, from whom the abducted child was finally recovered.
The operation further unraveled the larger network of middlemen and families involved in illegal child adoption and trafficking, leading to the recovery of five more children from Agra, Nainital, and Fatehabad.
