08 Sept (HS): Newly appointed Justice Amitabh Rai and Justice Rajiv Lochan
Shukla took oath as judges of the Allahabad High Court today. The oath was
administered by Chief Justice Arun Bhasali at 10 am in the Chief Justice Court.
All judges, judicial officers, family members of judges and advocates were
present at the oath taking ceremony.
Arrangements were also made to broadcast
the ceremony live in the Marble Hall through Circuit TV. Due to the oath taking
ceremony, the courts sat from quarter to eleven. After the oath taking, the total
number of judges in the Allahabad High Court, which has 160 judges, has become
86, apart from the Chief Justice. The names of the two newly appointed judges,
Amitabh Rai and advocate Rajiv Lochan Shukla, were recommended by the Supreme
Court Collegium on March 25 and sent to the Central Government.
