New Delhi, September 8(HS): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator from Burari, Sanjeev Jha, has written to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta demanding compensation and immediate relief for farmers whose crops have been destroyed due to recent flooding in low-lying areas of his constituency. He emphasized that similar aid had been provided to farmers by previous governments and urged for timely assistance this year as well.
In his letter, Jha pointed out that the rising water levels of the Yamuna River have inundated vast stretches of farmland, leaving crops submerged and farmers’ livelihoods in jeopardy. He noted that the sudden natural disaster has caused severe economic distress among farming families struggling to cope with the loss of their harvest.
The MLA appealed to the Chief Minister to deploy a special survey team for an on-the-ground assessment of the damage. He further recommended that immediate compensation and relief payments be disbursed to affected farmers, enabling them to recover from the losses at the earliest.
Sanjeev Jha highlighted that in the past, government interventions in similar circumstances had provided crucial financial aid to farmers. Expressing hope, he said he expected the Delhi government to take swift action this time as well, ensuring timely relief for vulnerable families.
