Agartala, 07 September (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Tripura on September 22 to formally inaugurate the newly renovated Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Gomati district.
The ancient Shakti Peeth, counted among the most sacred shrines in Eastern India, has recently undergone a large-scale beautification and reconstruction effort. The work was carried out under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme, which the BJP government in the state had pushed forward soon after coming to power.
For the project, the Centre allocated nearly ₹38 crore, while the State Government added another ₹7 crore. Authorities expect that the facelift will not only enhance the spiritual experience of devotees but also provide a major push to religious tourism, further establishing Tripura as a prominent tourist hub.
In the run-up to the Prime Minister’s visit, senior officials, including Chief Secretary Kiran Gitte, Principal Secretary Abhishek Singh, DGP Anurag, IG (Law & Order) Manchak Ipper, Tourism Secretary UK Chakma and others, inspected the temple premises to review preparedness.
