EduKick Naari: A New Ray of Hope for Aspiring Female Athletes

Kochi, 07 September(H.S) : Even as India is all set to bid for hosting the 1936 Summer Olympics, an innovative mission has been launched by a High School student based in Gurugram to draw more and more female athletes to sports and games.

Having understood the reason behind the reservation in the months of parents and the would be athletes, Vir Shrinagesh, student of Pathways School in Gurugram has come out with a mission to address this long standing issue.

Most of the parents dissuade their children from taking up sports seriously due to their fear that it would affect their studies and derail their dreams of graduating as a doctor, engineer, management professional or other high paying jobs.

Shrinagesh’s EduKick Naari is a panacea to this long standing fear. “We do have sports personalities of global standards but their number is too meagre when we compare it with our population of 145 billion,” said a spokesman of EduKick Naari.

Though the initiative is small in size, sportsmen are of the view that EduKick Naari has the potential to emerge as a center of excellence and can make a change in India’s sporting world.

The scheme developed by Shrinagesh ensures that sporting prowess and higher education opportunities amongst female athletes go hand in hand.

“We inform the students about sports quota in colleges and universities and how to crack it,” said Shrinagesh.

The athletes are informed about sports quota available in colleges, the eligibility criteria and details of documents they have to submit during the process of admission.

“We want to combine sports with academic background and this ensures that those who are passionate about sports and education do not lose their way,” said Shrinagesh, himself a national level athlete and footballer.

Nearly 100 female athletes have been benefited thanks to the efforts of Shrinagesh.

“The focus is to ensure that no girl is forced to give up her passion for sports in order to secure her future in education. We intend to channelize medals and matches into stepping stones towards higher education and rewrite the future of young female athletes across North India,” he said. Well, EduKick is on its way to kick-start India’s world of sports.
