Bhopal,September 7(HS): In a brazen late-night incident, more than half a dozen masked men broke into the residence of Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari in Indore’s Rajendra Nagar locality. The gang struck between 2 am and 4.30 am on Saturday, after allegedly cutting electricity in the Bijalpur neighbourhood.

Sequence of Events

Around 2 am – CCTV footage shows masked men entering Bijalpur colony.

2:15 am onwards – The intruders forcibly entered Patwari’s residence-office, smashing drawers and lockers in the office section.

Nearly 2.5 hours – The group reportedly prowled through the neighbourhood before vanishing.

4:30 am – Last movements captured on grainy security footage.

Political Outcry

The Madhya Pradesh Congress confirmed the attempted robbery on social media, alleging that the gang came with “the intent of committing a major crime” and ransacked Patwari’s office.

The party accused the ruling BJP government of negligence, pointing out that this was the fifth serious incident targeting the PCC chief. The Congress demanded greater security, highlighting that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, also in charge of Indore district, has failed to maintain law and order.

Police Investigation

Local police have launched a probe and suspect an active burglary gang may be behind the crime spree in the area. Officers are scanning CCTV footage to trace the men’s route and identify the perpetrators.
