Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended warm greetings to the people of India on the occasion of Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala celebrated with grandeur and devotion across the world.

In his message, the Prime Minister said, “Wishing everyone a very happy Onam! May this beautiful festival bring renewed joy, good health and abundant prosperity to all. Onam reflects the timeless heritage and rich traditions of Kerala. This festival is a symbol of unity, hope and cultural pride. May this occasion strengthen the spirit of harmony in our society and deepen our connection with nature.”

Onam, one of the most cherished festivals of Kerala, marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali and coincides with the harvest season. The festival is known for its vibrant traditions including floral decorations (pookkalam), boat races, traditional dances, music, and the grand Onasadya feast. It is celebrated not only in Kerala but by Malayali communities across India and abroad, showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage.

By highlighting the values of unity, harmony, and cultural pride, Prime Minister Modi underscored the significance of Onam as a festival that goes beyond rituals to embody inclusivity and respect for nature. He expressed hope that the celebrations would bring people closer together, fostering peace, prosperity, and well-being in society.
