Dhaka, September 4 (HS): Bangladesh T20 captain Litton Kumar Das has expressed confidence in his team’s preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup, set to begin on September 9 in the UAE.
Bangladesh recently clinched a 2-0 series win over the Netherlands in a three-match T20 encounter, with the final game washed out by rain. This marked Bangladesh’s third consecutive T20 series triumph, following victories against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Litton credited the team’s success to their pre-series training camps. The squad first underwent a fitness camp in Dhaka and later a skill-based camp in Sylhet, where they had access to better playing surfaces for practice.
“I believe we are well-prepared for the Asia Cup. The camp wasn’t just planned for this series, but with the Asia Cup in mind. Honestly, I’ve never seen such a well-organized camp before,” Litton remarked.
Highlighting the importance of match exposure, he added: “Everyone who got a chance performed well, except for Saifuddin, who wasn’t at his best. Otherwise, each player contributed in some way. Training is vital, but match experience teaches you the real aspects of the game.”
While acknowledging that not all batters got enough opportunities, the skipper viewed it as a positive sign. “The top-order played so well that the middle-order didn’t get much chance. That scenario will change in the Asia Cup, where every player may be tested. For now, this is an encouraging sign.”
Bangladesh will begin their Asia Cup campaign on September 11 against Hong Kong.
