Kanpur,

03 Sept (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while inaugurating the

industry-academia engagement program 'Samanvay' of Indian Institute of Technology

( IIT ) Kanpur on Wednesday, “Today the issue of cooperation between industry

and academic institutions is not limited to research and innovation, but it is

directly linked to the standard of living of the common citizen, global

challenges and sustainable development. Brainstorming on topics like Artificial

Intelligence, Cyber Security and Sustainability will not only make India a

self-reliant and developed nation, but also plays an important role in

establishing a global center of technology and development.”

Chief

Minister Yogi said that the topic on which we have gathered today is not just

'coordination' of industry-academia cooperation, but is also related to the

challenges facing the whole world. These challenges directly affect the

standard of living of the common citizen. That is why there will be technical

sessions and discussions on three important pillars like Artificial

Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security and Sustainability.

Chief

Minister Yogi said that India was the world's largest economy till the 17th

century. Our contribution to global GDP was up to 25 percent but what happened

in the 150-200 years that it kept falling continuously and by 1947 India's

contribution was only two percent. CM Yogi said that in the last 11 years we

have seen India changing. Today India is the fourth largest economy in the

world and is on its way to becoming the third economy in the next two years. In

future, we will also get the opportunity to become the second economy. This

journey is not only of economic development, but is in the direction of

developed India and self-reliant India.

IIT

Kanpur is moving ahead in the direction of technology: Chief Minister Yogi said

that IIT Kanpur has a glorious history. In the last six decades, this institute

has given a lot to the country in the field of technology. Recently I visited

the Drone Technology Center in Noida. I also met people associated with IIT

Kanpur there. I saw how our youth are getting ready to face new strategic

challenges. IIT Kanpur is also contributing to it. We should always believe

that we can do it. The world's oldest university, Takshila, was also in India.

Ayurvedacharyas like Charak and Sushruta emerged from there. This is our

tradition that every letter, every plant and every human has the potential to

become something. All that is needed is a connecter. I believe that institutes

like IIT are doing the same connecting work.

UP

became the second largest economy in the last eight years: The Chief Minister

further said that in 1947, Uttar Pradesh's contribution to the national GDP was

up to 14 percent. But by 2017 it had reduced to only seven to eight percent.

There was an atmosphere of despair, industries did not want to invest, and

youth were migrating. The once prosperous state started being called Bimaru.

The picture of Uttar Pradesh has changed in the last eight years. Today, the

state is the second largest economy of the country. UP has set new standards

with better security, investment, infrastructure and good governance. Change is

visible in every field. Uttar Pradesh has also taken the lead in the field of

Sustainable Development Goals. The Legislative Assembly of the state is the

first Legislative Assembly of the country, which discussed for 36 hours

continuously and decided how Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved.

Today, concrete work is being done in every field including education, health,

agriculture, water management.

Investment

coming to Bundelkhand from Defense Corridor: Giving the example of Bundelkhand,

the Chief Minister said that once this area used to struggle with the problem of

drought, migration and dacoits. Today, every house here has tap water, fields

are being irrigated and investment is coming in two important nodes of the

Defense Corridor (Chitrakoot and Jhansi). Earlier, where a farmer used to earn

Rs 5000 annually, today the same farmer is earning up to Rs 50,000.

The

Chief Minister said that the state has also set an example in the direction of

environment. A new record has been created by planting 240 crore saplings in

the last eight years. The Forest Research Institute has also accepted that the

forest area in Uttar Pradesh has increased. This is the proof of our efforts

towards sustainable development. The Chief Minister said that cyber security is

the biggest challenge today. In 2017, there were only two cyber police

stations, and even those were not active. Today, there are cyber police

stations in 75 districts of the state, more than 1500 police stations have

cyber desks and the State Cyber and Forensic Institute has also been

established but a lot more is yet to be done. We want to work together with IIT

Kanpur in this direction. I believe that IIT Kanpur should become the center

for preparing India's first deep-tech India 2025 model. We have also allotted

some land for this in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

On

this occasion, State Government Cabinet Minister Rakesh Sachan, IIT Kanpur

Director Prof. Manindra Agarwal, Chief Technology Officer TCS Dr. Harry Queen,

Deputy Director IIT Kanpur Prof. Brajbhushan were present.
